Samburu Game Lodge is set in 10 acres of pristine riverine forest on the western bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River within the Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya at an altitude of 857 meters above sea level.
One of Kenya’s most long-established game lodges, this rustically tranquil lodge stands on the banks of the mighty Ewaso Nyiro River, which is the very lifeblood of this otherwise starkly beautiful but arid reserve. Secluded within 10 acres of pristine riverine forest, the restaurant, bars and the majority of the rooms look out over the river, which acts as a magnet for vast herd of elephants; and for leopards, lions, hippos and huge Nile crocodiles.
Samburu game lodge offers accommodation in en-suite cottages, rooms and suites, all of them with private balconies offering a beautiful view over the river. The Samburu Game Lodge can accommodate disabled guests in their specially adapted room, the Lodge has several family rooms available.
Facilities at the Samburu Game Lodge
- Lokrokushu restaurant - overlooks the Uaaso Nyiro river,
- The Crocodile bar - is level with the riverbank allowing sightings of crocodiles, monitor lizards as well as elephants and leopards. At sunset the lodge's staff throw out bait to attract the crocodiles so guests can enjoy close sightings but in safe conditions.
- Vulturine bar also overlooks the river and is open throughout the day and into the evening
- The Swimming Pool Bar serves a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks and snacks are available throughout the day.
